My first dive on the boat

FAQ
Frequently asked Questions BEFORE your first dive

1. What should I bring to my first dive on the boat?
Arrive wearing your bathing suit, bring any and all diving gear that you want to use and already tried in the pool session, don´t bring any extra things that you don´t want to get wet. Bring your Cellphone if you must, but ask for it to be protected in a dry bag in advance to getting on the boat. Remember that the boat ride is NOT the best time to be working remotely.
2. What time should I arrive at the dive site?
Get to the diving site on time, or even a little bit early, to make sure you go over any details you might have overlooked, and not arrive more nervous than you need
Avoid using cameras underwater until you are a proficient diver, and have a good enough buoyancy. Give a more experienced diver the chance to take pictures of your first dive
3. What should I eat or drink to prevent being sea-sick?
Have a regular meal 2-3 hours before your dive, try not to use excess sugar, caffeine or spices. Be correctly hidrated and completely avoid alcohol.
4. Should I take a sea-sickness pill before I go on the boat ride?
Yes, but only if you have had this medicine before and know the effects it has on you. Take it 30-45 minutes before you get on the boat. It will help you not get sea-sick.
5. How long will the boat ride be?
In Playa, for your first diving experience, you will be on the boat for three to four hours. It takes around 10 minutes to get to the first diving site, you go diving for around 45 minutes, then come back to the boat, drink some water and eat a little bit of fruit, and dive in the second diving site.
6. Can I dive when I arrive in Playa del Carmen?
Yes, you can fly into the city and go diving immediately, just be sure to plan in advance.
7. How soon can I fly back home after diving?
It depends on how many dives you made and how deep the dives were, but to be extra safe, leave at least a 24 hr period after your last immersion
